Ohio High School Hockey Rankings Dec 16th

What a wild, snowy weekend of hockey!  As the saying goes, the cream rises to the top.  That is exactly what we are seeing this season.  Things are starting to take shape, and are following what we were assuming.

Shaker and Rocky River tie each other.  We knew and know they are the dominate teams in whats become their new home of a division and will battle each other hard.  Yet playing just softies is not going to do them any favors, as we saw U.S gun them down like a bunch of taliban raiders, in a 8-1 rout.

Shattuck St. Marys is a name for many that rings hockey.  As one of the top prep  schools for hockey in the Nation out side of New England it does, and as St. Ignatius learned playing not their storied prep team, not their Midget major AAA, or Minor AAA, not even the Bantam AAA but their AA team and lost a nail biter 2-1 in OT.  Walsh lost to the same Shattuck club 5-0,  then lost to Culvers Varsity A team 5-3  and lost to Gilmour 2-1 in OT, and beat Prairie Ridge handily.  Gilmour Lost Glenn brook 6-0 and lost to Shattuck as well 7-3.  Not a good showing for Ohio VS the SHattuck rookies.

The Crazy Train  however was in NW Ohio.  An important look at BG was lost however due to that games cancellation due to lots of snow, and drifting conditions on Saturday.  BG clobbered Troy, taking care of business they needed to 8-0, being consistent.  The story of the weekend is Toledo St Johns.  The TITANS scored fifteen goals in their two games Vs Northview and St. Francis.  8 and 7 respectively. They did surrender 5, three of which came after the Wildcats pulled goalie Marsh, when he surrendered his 6th of the contest in the 2nd period.  That seemed to potentially spark the Wildcats who scored 3 in a row over 5 min in the second ending the period training 6-3.  The Wildcats just are not playing well in the defensive zone in this down year not having developed JV players, or lost recruiting battles to the private schools.  Anyway you slice it, at this point they could get creative, but creativity alone will not suffice.  More likely to succeed is Toledo St Francis.  While they were slain as well by the Titans 7-2, they have a better shot at making some defensive adjustments, but they are as is BG young, and likely to be the key players next year.  This is St. Johns year to win states, at this point I am Confident in predicting St. Johns will represent at states in the politically correct championship, where everyone is a winner...yea...lol.  Likely to face a strong Lake Catholic squad....maybe Ignatius...slight shot for US ...the play offs are a GRUELING test of endurance...better yet would be if the Regular season champions got a bye and number two played a best of three against number three then played the season champs in a best of 3 the following weekend....that would be interesting....or what if the number two in Cleveland hosted the number two from the NW in a best of three, and the number 3's played in Toledo...all kinds of competition based ways to play things vs PC which just SUCK.

In the Capital Conference Dublin Coffman got fired up and bested Jerome, but its all Jerome if they play every game as they can.
